For more than ten years we have built furniture in Michigan under the name TRH Furniture. Today that work continues as ROHN Studio.
Over those years the shop has turned out more than six hundred projects: dining tables, mantels, benches, coffee tables, a nine-foot walnut shuffleboard table. Every one of them was designed here and built here, by the same people who drew it.
The old name made us sound like a furniture store, and we are not one. We do not stock other makers’ work, and we do not sell from a catalogue. We are designers and builders: each piece begins as a drawing in our studio and ends as a finished piece in our workshop, and it never passes through anyone else’s hands in between. ROHN Studio says that plainly.
Designed and built under one roof
That is the difference the new name is meant to make clear. A retailer chooses what to sell. We decide what a piece should be: its proportions, its joinery, the board it is cut from, and the finish that will carry it through generations. Then we build it ourselves, so nothing in the design is lost on the way to the workshop floor.
What stays the same
Almost everything that matters. Jason still chooses the logs, reads the grain, and builds every piece from first cut to final coat. Ashley still looks after the design conversations, the commissions, and everyone who orders from us. The workshop is the same, the phone number is the same, (810) 887-9950, and so is the standard each piece is held to before it leaves.
If you have a piece in the shop right now, nothing about it changes. It will be built as agreed, on the timeline agreed, by the same two sets of hands.
The new mark
The identity is deliberately restrained. A wordmark, the word STUDIO set wide beside it, and a single icon: an R with softened corners, cut directly from the letters of the wordmark. It comes in ink, cream, and two bronzes, the colours of char, raw timber, and the hardware we set into our tables.
It is meant to be used small. Furniture built to last for generations does not need a logo that shouts. The piece should be the first thing you notice, and the mark the last.
A new website
The site you are reading is new as well, built around the way people actually choose furniture: by the look first, then by the piece.
Custom work has not gone anywhere. If what you have in mind is not on the site, it still starts the way it always has, with a conversation.
Thank you to everyone who trusted TRH Furniture with a piece for their home. We hope you will keep us around as ROHN Studio.
