# DUSK — Ebonized -or- deep black

> Every piece in DUSK is finished ebonized or black: grain you read by touch as much as by eye.

Ebonized is a reaction with the tannin already in the wood rather than anything sitting on top of it, so the figure stays legible even at its darkest. Black is a separate application, an intense black oil, and each piece is built in one or the other.

- Material: Solid wood
- Finish: Ebonized · deep black
- Lead time: 10–12 weeks (made to order)
- Shipping: Free shipping within the US. Remote destinations (boat, train or plane) are quoted separately.

## Black that comes from inside the board

We brew iron and vinegar for a fortnight, then flood the raw wood. Tannin does the rest. Two coats, a light cut back, and an oiled finish that keeps the surface from ever looking painted.

## The other black

Black is a different job. Instead of a reaction we work an intense black oil into the raw surface, cut it back by hand, and build it until the colour is solid but the grain still reads through. Collateral, Low & Large, Plus, Bare, and Chief are all finished this way.
